Day 5 -- Walking Around
Characters: Ed and anyone who wants to tackle him (nudges Harle)
When: Day 5 -- Mid Day
Where: Town Square by the fountain
Warnings: I don't really have any.But that's speaking for my character.
Summary: Ed's just taking a break after poking around. Walking can be tiring. He's planning his next move.

Ed walked along the paved street mumbling to himself. "Allright....that old bag said something about "Zenith Market" , ao if I find that place..."

He stopped and looked around. It seemed that he had walked into some kind of square. Still, it was hard to be sure of the center of a place that just seemed to expand. However, today he was not trying to escape. He was just trying to get his bearings and find the Black Mask.

He walked over to the large fountain in the center of the square and sat on the edge to rest his feet and to at more x's and dots to map that only he would comprehend.

The trickling sound of the water and the light spray on his back reminded him of his and Al's first trip to the desert town of Liore - he smiled remembering how they had walked in the desert for what seemed a life time. Then , he had rushed to a fountain in a square not unlike this one at full tilt;he fully intended to dive in. Until he realized that the water was wine.

He laughed softly reminicing.

"Mon, loin moins intéressant comme j'ai cru." A sigh escaped Harle's lips as she floated aimlessly in the streets. The first person she had bothered proved to be quite the boring one. She'd have to deal with him and his chicken later. Now, it was time to bother another person that seemed to be wondering around aimlessly.

However, despite the fact that she was floating, people didn't seem to take much mind to her.

"No! That's not right!" Edward scratched something out on his make shift map. "It didn't look like that for sure."

Man, he thought irritably. I can draw transmutation circles but not a map?

He shifted into a more comfortable position. Maybe he was just trying too hard.

The sound of somebody raising their voice was enough to catch Harle's attention. He turned to notice a little child attempting to read something or the other. The poor thing was probably too young to read.

In an intand Harle was over him. "Le petit, do you need help reading that?"

"La pet - hey, wait a minute. Doesn't that mean sma - "Ed paused to look up. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"

SPLASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH!!!

Midway through anwering Ed had glanced up to see what was possibly a feamle clown? - just -just- hovering in the air over him. In his shock he promptly fell over into the fountain.

The poor mockery of map drifted to the ground beside the fountain. Edward, who was not as lucky, surfaced sputtering.

"Hnnn." Harle picked up the map with curiousity. "You are definately not an artist, le petit," she mused and glanced back at Edward. Her bells jingled slightly. "Don't worry, you have plenty years left in school to learn though."

" I AM NOT A SHRIMP SO SMALL THAT HE DOESN'T KNOW WHEN IT RAINS!!"Edward roared, spitting out a great deal of water. He hoisted himself back over the edge of the fountain.

I will not hit a girl, I will not hit a girl, not even a weird one, I will not - he took deep breaths trying to control his temper.

The...entity floating before him only seemed amused. Which made him more irritated, He snatched his piece of paper back.

"It's not art, it's a map." he said sounding so stiff that he almost reminded himself of Mustang.

"Well of course you are, le petit!" she mused once again with a malicious grin on her face. "If you weren't, than what else would you be?" She tilted her head some when he snatched the map away. "Oh! Are you saying that map making is not a form of art? I do believe that the people who draw maps professionally would be quite insulted if they heard you say such things, le petit."

"I am not a peti -j-just-I wasn't -I don't - oh who asked you?!" Ed screamed, and with that he began to walk away before he really did lose it on a girl. After all, Al was not there to restrain him.

"Oh! Nobody asked me, I was simply offering my services to you." She started to float above him as he walked away. "You looked like you were having a hard time trying to read something, and being you look quite too small to know how to read, I was just simply coming help you."

"Listen, you're way too short yourself to be calling anyone small, kid." Ed growled , shooting an annoyed look over his shoulder. "And I don't need help."

He suddenly noticed that this girl's eyes were red. He stopped in his tracks. "Is your hair white under there?"

"Hnnn. That's a good question." She looked as if she was thinking hard. "It's been awhile since I've seen my own hair."

"Forget that then." he answered imaptiently. "Are you from a place called Ishbaal?"

He tried to wipe the water that was dripping off of his bangs into his face with the sleeve of his over coat; not very successful seeing as he was sopping wet. He pulled it off and began wringing it out.

"Non," she replied. "I have never heard of such a place. In fact it does not sound like a place that I would believe exists." She slowly drifted upside down as she spoke.

"I see." Edward replied trying not to make it look too obvious how disappointed he was. He felt like he was doing that a lot lately - hiding his sadness.

Maybe that's why he helped Riku after all;just to have something to be positive about.

And now he was wet, so say good bye to a job interview even if he did find the Black Mask.

"Oh well." said, smiling ruefully at Harle's upside down visage. "That's what I should have expected."
