Characters: Rowen and anyone else who comes along
When: Day 11(?)
Where: Zenith Market
Warnings: As long as no females over 18 cross Rowen's path it should remain PG.
Summary: Rowen's looking for a compass.
Log:

He was onto his second notebook on the city. Any spare moment Rowen could find he had been examining the town, looking for any clues, noting all the things out of the ordinary. He wasn't ashamed to admit that the findings of the young Master Elric had given him a great deal of direction in his search. Now he had finally gathered enough money to feel he had some to spare. His first purchase would be something he felt would aid his investigation greatly; a compass. This is what brought him to Zenith Market.

The amount of interesting people was very limited in Harle's opinion. This was mostly due to the fact it was far too easy for to tell what was real and what wasn't. Thought things were starting to look up for her when she noticed a differnet figure below her from one of the market's buildings. It was a man with dog ears.

Certainly that was very interesting. She disappeared from her spot and reappeared floating above Rowen's head, examining his ears.

Stopping suddenly, Rowen's ears twitched. Something told him he was being watched, but looking from side to side he could find nothing or no one. Assuming it was just a temporary spot of paranoia he continued on his way. After all, who wouldn't be naturally paranoid in a situation like this?

That was very amusing to see the little dog man look all directions besides the one she was in. It couldn't help but bring a smirk on Harle's face. She continued to float above him, and decided on a little game. Reaching down she gave his shoulder a little tap, ready to vanish for the moment once he turned around.

At the tap, Rowen turned slowly and calmly to find no one there. Slightly confused he sniffed the air for a few moments. Someone had definently been there, it hadn't been an errant projectile or his imagination.

"This is a dangerous game you choose to play. I would strongly suggest you stop now, rather than test the limits of my patience." he said to no one in particular, listening very closely for any approaching footsteps.

"Crainte, le pauvre chiot. He does not like to play games." A slight jingle in the hair could be heard as Harle appeared on her feet in front of Rowen. "Mon apologisies then. I though puppies like to play."

Cocking his head slightly, Rowen looked the girl before him over carefully. Rather strange, but not without her appeal. He did wonder how she looked under the makeup and strange costume. He exhaled slowly "If we really must see this in terms relating to dogs, you're doing the equivalent of getting between a dog and his meal." with that he stepped past her and continued "If there's something you want, do feel free to walk alongside me."

Oh she was going to follow him alright. He was the most intriguing thing she's found so far in this little city. "Such interesting ears, Monsieur."

Rowen twitched them unconsciously as they were mentioned. "I do suppose they are, considering how rather unique they are in these parts. Quite a shame really, the females of my kind are ever so pleasant to look at." he gave a wistful, dramatic sigh and kept an eye out for a shop or stall that may have what he needs.

"Oh non. Where I come from they are not rare at all," Harle commented. "In fact they're quite familiar which is why I decided to poke you."

"What simple motivations." Rowen commented idly and unintentionally out loud as he spied a small stall with several antique looking devices. He approached it and eyed the goods available. He looked back over his shoulder to the strange woman "Perhaps you have a name?"

[Once again I post on the wrong account at first. Oy.]

"I am easily amused," Harle comment. "Oh non, how rude of me!" She took a step back and gave a dramatic, but curt bow. "Madame Harle."

Rowen smirked and turned for the girls response, quite pleased to find someone else shared his particular love of introductions that leave and impression. He brought his right hand before his chest and fanned his left to his side as he bowed. With a small twirl of his left hand he introduced himself "Captain Rowen Hunder. It is a pleasure, Madame." he rose back to a standing position.

Tilting his head slightly, Rowen continued "I mean no disrespect, but I am inclinded to believe that 'Harle' is a pseudonym, as a harlequin is what you appear to be."

"Ah, I believe we have chatted on that gadget we have before," Harle mused. "Yes, that I am a Harlequin. I suppose when I was named my parents knew what my occupation would be when I would grow, oui?"

With a small scoff that implied "a likely story" Rowen turned and glimpsed something out of the corner of his eye. "Ah! My quest is at an end." he exclaimed and trotted over to a nearby vendor, immediately taking up a small, atiquated looking compass. He made a brief exchange with the man behind the table which ended with Rowen paying one quarter of the asking price and he returned to Harle. "My apologies. After all this searching I could not risk that tiniest of chances someone else would purchase this before I could do so.

"A compass?" Harle looked at it curious. "Surely this town isn't that big. In fact I believe I've seen nearly every corner of it by now. You honestly do not need a compass to navigate this place." Of course, not everyone would float and teleport about as they pleased as Harle could. But, she decided to ignore that fun for the moment. If anything it would make the encounter more fun.

With a sigh Rowen eyed the compass briefly before placing it into a pocket inside his coat. "The compass is not for navigation. I've already committed a great deal of this town to memory. The compass is intended for research." he turned and began his long trek back to the apartment. "I hardly consider myself a man of science, but when all one has to go to for answers is empiricism there is little choice."

"Ah, so you believe that we've arrived here through a means that can be proved scientifically?" Harle still mused.

Rowen shook his head as he walked "This is not what I am saying. I merely have no other avenue to pursue. My species is hardly magically inclined. I myself went through an extraordinary amount of work for the tiny amount I'm capable of." To demonstrate he waved a few fingers towards Harle, causing a very small gust of wind to noticably blow the tassles (I have no idea what else to call them) atop her head.

"Believe me. That took more focus than should really be worth it. Science is the only method I have at my disposal to discovering the mysteries of this place."
