characters: Edward and Vexen
When: Day 10 possibly 11(?)
Where:Black Mask
Warnings: none that I foresee
Summary: Edward has finally found the Black Mask;basically he's looking for employment.
Log:

Edward eyed the place cautiously as he approached. Ever since he had crossed Zenith Square, maybe it was in his head, maybe he was still messed up from La Peur....but it seemed like a shadow hung over the place and the whole area.

It's......as depressing as Riku! I wonder if this is a good idea. Oh well, I'll find out I guess. I do need a job.

Menial labor hardly seemed befitting for a scientist of Vexen's caliber (or so he believed); nevertheless, that didn't take away from the fact that unless he wished the tiny pharmacy in which he was employed to become overridden with filth and various debris mindless tasks such as cleaning were to be done. Needless to say, it wasn't with much relish (however false it may have been) that the freezing scholar found himself using his elbow to turn the fluted handle of the shop's side entrance door with a neatly tied trash-sack along with a broom and dustpan in hand. Shoving his way out from the building, Vexen puttered down the steep steps leading from the door to set the trash within its proper receptacle, the contents of the dustpan following soon after.

Replacing the lid back upon the trashcan, after having taken it off in the first place, the scientist strode around the side of the building and back towards the front - having forgotten prop open the door he used as it would lock itself immediately upon closing to help prevent shoplifting. A damn hassle really. However, upon rounding the corner, the Nobody noted a rather odd little figure meandering around the general area - obviously not one of the NPC civilians given the hesitation, of its strides - perhaps the tainted Keybearer's room mate?

Regardless, he didn't greet the person, merely gave a cursory once over before moving to the apothecary's entrance, 'unhappily' intent on sweeping the bit of cobblestone sidewalk in front of the door before heading back inside.

Edward noticed when a man rounded the corner trash bag and dust pan in hand looking rather as though he were enjoying himself - not. It surprised him. This was the first citizen in Facattia he had witnessed looking less than happy. He had begun to forget what it looked like.

Well , cheerful or not, he was glad to see someone. He was beginning to feel uncomfortable standing alone in a place that gave him the creeps. Not that he'd ever show it.

"Heeeeeeeey!" Ed called out to the man. "Do you work here?"

Pausing his broom mid-sweep, Vexen spared a glance towards the approaching boy, an eyebrow arched in curiosity at the question - why bother with such a greeting when the answer seemed to be quite frankly, rather obvious? A benign way to break the ice, he concluded, indulging the younger man with a curt nod.

"Yes - were you in need of something.. sir," the scientist replied, leaning the broom against the wall of the shop so as to not appear to be be entirely rude.

"Please...I'm not so old that you have to 'sir' me, pops." Ed replied, grinning. "Would you be Vexen by any chance -?"

Ed abruptly stopped talking when his gaze met the other's. Something cold...that was really the only way to describe it. Was it just hiding behind his eyes, or was it in the man's whole aura? Unconcious of it, he shivered.

Cool it Ed, it's just a guy. You've sen a lot scarier, remember?he chided himself.

"Old habits die hard," he mumbled, gaze pinned upon the boy. Vexen very nearly smiled at the blonde's obvious discomfort then. In a curious manner it was almost pleasing to his vanity, quite the ego boost in that he was able to disquiet another without having to brandish any sort of weapon.

"Though, I would assume that you would rather be addressed as 'sir' versus 'son', hmm? Regardless, that is my name. Would I be correct in assuming that you are the boy's.. Riku's? room mate, then? Edward was it?"

"Please, do come inside," the scientist invited, making a vague 'come hither' gesture as he picked the broom back up, moving towards the door of the apothecary.

Ed thought that was a strange reply. He wasn't used to formalities, was all , he supposed. He shrugged. "You could just call me Ed. Pretty much everyone else does. Yeah...it was Riku that told me how to get here."

Whatver feeling was nagging Ed dissappeared when the man shifted his gaze.

What was that? Oh well. If there's something to worry about, I'm sure I'll find out soon enough - as per usual with my luck.

He followed when the other man motioned him to go inside.
